This colour is my interpretation of the rich olive green and yellow undertones of their evergreen leaves. Mangroves are an invaluable part of the marine ecosystem, and freely provide shelter for fish and shellfish as well as filtration, flood protection, and carbon sequestration services. They are also really lovely to stroll alongside.\u003c\/p\u003e\n\u003cp\u003eWhile mangroves are used in traditional dye practices, they are a protected species in NSW and are not actually used in creation of this colour.\u003c\/p\u003e\n\u003cp\u003eThis version of Avicennia is one of my earlier dye explorations, and is lighter than my current recipe.
